Abstract

The purpose of this study the chemical processing time of zirconia evaluate the influence on the surface, and on the bond strength of zirconia ceramic veneers was to examine the impact. Bonding strength was measured by Schwickerath initial crack test described in ISO 9693:2009. Zirconia specimens (25 mm X 3 mm X 0.5 mm) were prepared by cutting zirconia block (Cerasys-Zr, Cerasys Inc., USA). The specimens sintered acid (10 % HF) and base(1Mol NaOH) was performed according to the time. Zirconia of chemical treated were measured using a universal testing machine (UTM), contact angle meter, scanning electron microscopy (SEM). the data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA and the Scheffe¡¯s multiple range test. NaOH treated zirconia showed significant difference in surface energy(P<0.05), but there was no significant difference in bond strength(P>0.05). HF treated zirconia showed increased significantly in surface energy(P<0.05), its bond strength was significantly decreased(P<0.05).
